Wow Australia Day in Gove is still as great as it was as when I was a kid. The NCL put on a great event. I love a small town, everything is laid on. There is no parking fee's there's hardly a queue and getting to the event...well we should of walked but we had to bring stuff!
We joined in the 5km Fun Run. Runners North is still the club that organises it! Dad began Runners North in the 70s! Iconic! Mali ran it in her thongs, even the locals weren't tough enough for that. She paid the price the day later.
The Corporation put on both breakfast and lunch plus water and icy poles. There was a whole heap of free entertainment for the kids. Mali won $50 for decorating her bike. Anja Nissen (2015 Voice Winner) gave us a speech on diversity and then sang the National Anthem...AWESOME!
All this took place at the pool...for which Mali and I ended up spending a total of 9 hours at. Yep we did end up a little more coloured red...brown and I guess flakey in a few more days.
